Dear Members,
Summer rapidly approaches despite
the recent snow and we have a full schedule ahead.
Safety Day was held on May 22 with the Littleton
Police Department. We had 37 volunteers in attendance on a sunny but windy, windy day. A
gigantic Thank You is extended to all who helped at this event. The Ride Smart trikes and DUI vehicles
were again very popular. After several unsuccessful attempts to utilize the Dunk Tank in the wind, Hugh
Sigler demonstrated his construction skills and erected a framework to hold the backdrop in place. Thanks…Hugh.
This
summer we will be involved in the Jr. Academy in June under the direction of Acting Sgt. Sam Mullins, the Teen CSI in July
with Bruce Adams, and WWW in August. Mickey Kempf is our Volunteer Coordinator and will be asking for volunteers
for these activities.
Our annual picnic will also be held in July. This traditionally is sponsored by the LPD in
appreciation for the hard work and investment we provide. This year Chief Coogan hopes to honor various
individuals for their donated hours with pins for our lanterns. Further announcements will be forthcoming.
At the annual Award Dinner in March the following individuals were honored with Citizen’s Appreciation
Awards: Fred Hamblen, Mickey Kempf, Karen Santora, Michael Schaefer and myself.
The
extension for the police building is now in progress beginning with a new parking garage. For further information
see the Chief’s Corner in this issue.
Graduation for the Spring 2010 Citizen’s Academy class was
held on May 12th and attended by 18 of our Alumni. I am pleased to announce that 7 new members
have joined our ranks.
Have a wonderful but safe summer.
