Dear Alumni,
I want to tell
you about three exciting new programs that we have started in the last several months which help the Police Department provide
service and information directly to citizens. They are great examples of how the 3 Ts, Tools, Technology and Training
help our department give a great deal of service to our community without tremendous cost. These programs are based on advances
in the use of the internet (Technology), and the need to share information with our citizens to help us make the community
safer (Tools). These Crime Prevention efforts are great examples of Training.
The Police Department is now a participant in Crime Reports.Com (Technology).
This program is totally automated. Once per day, the data from those reports is downloaded to the Crime Reports server,
which instantly updates the web site. The Crime Report.Com web page allows access to all documented police activities
occurring in the City of Littleton. You may chose to look at crime information occurring in your neighborhood
for the specific time period that you choose. Incidents can be sorted by crime type, date, distance from a given address
and over various periods of time; from three to thirty days. For instance, if you would like to find out about a particular
police activity you noticed in the city, you can search that location to stay informed. You may also receive email alerts
concerning the types of crime activities that you choose, within a selected radius of your address. To see this new
program you can go to http://www.crimereports.com/ and also register to receive email alerts about crime in your
neighborhood.
We have also started
a monthly Crime Prevention newsletter. The information in the newsletter contains basic crime prevention and safety
information and is written by an outside company. This newsletter, which is written in Spanish and in English, is available
to everyone who accesses our web page. It is not a replacement for the Neighborhood Watch Newsletter that we have just
started. The newsletters are available to the public visiting the department and are accessible from our web page at
http://www.littletongov.org/police/newsletter.asp and copies are available to the public visiting the department.
Please contact me if you have any
questions about these or any other Police department programs. Thanks for all you do for our department.
